Welcome to our new members, Steven Jia and Mitesh Mistry

It’s great to see the continued improvement from our newer shooters, with new PBs recorded this week from Megan Brodie 97.6, Daniel Johnson 95.2 and Steven Jia 88.1.

Top shots in D Grade this week were Daniel Johnson 95.2, Jack Day 91.1 and Jaz Hamilton 91.1.  Megan Brodie’s 97.6 was best in C Grade, with only an inner separating next best Inge Little 94.2 and Clive Brodie 94.1.  Mark Riley scored highest in B Grade (and in the club this week – well done!) with 99.5, followed by Mark Baines 98.4 and Casey Israelson 96.3.  And Becky Baines was top shot in the higher grades with 98.3 ahead of Evan Little 96.4.  Becky also top-scored in the 20-shot competition with 197.5 which included her first competition 100 of the season.  Next best were Evan Little and Mark Baines, both with 194.9.

The July club calendar has been emailed to members.  There are still a couple of representative matches in August and September where the details require finalisation.  Once confirmed, the remainder of the club calendar will be emailed.

The finalised interclub competition differs from the draft version some may have seen.  Please note the correct details below:

  • Round 1 – Monday 20 July
    • Brooklyn v Wellington Central – all grades
  • Round 2 – Sunday 9 August
    • Brooklyn v Melrose – C Grade and Open Grade
    • Brooklyn v Wellington Central – B Grade

All competition scores need to be recorded onto your Excel spreadsheet.  It is much easier to record these after each shoot than to try to remember scores at the end of the season.

Brooklyn are rostered to run the Wellington Open Champs from 10.15am to 12.15pm on Saturday 11 July.  It is hoped that as many members as possible will help out, and also compete, in these champs.  Please fill in the roster sheet next Sunday if you have not done so yet.  Once the information has been collated, the finalised roster will be emailed to members.  If you are using club equipment and shooting in the champs, please advise the club equipment coordinator (Mark Robinson) so that your equipment can be taken out of storage prior to the champs starting.

A reminder that entries for the Triple S Champs for secondary school students close this Wednesday 1 July. If you are interested in this competition, please email our college coordinators, Stephen Thessman or Craig Fair urgently.  There will be four rounds with deadlines two weeks apart (26 July, 9 August, 23 August and 6 September).  The first three rounds are 10-shot cards, while the last round is a 20-shot card.  The entry fee is $10.  The cards are shot at the club and can also count towards the club competition

Upcoming events:

  • Wednesday 1 July, deadline for Triple S Champs entries (secondary school shooters).
  • Friday 10 / Saturday 11 July, Wellington Open Champs.
  • Saturday 18 July, Manawatu Open Champs.
